Communications Alliance welcomes Australian Cyber Security Strategy

Sydney, 21 April 2016 – Communications Alliance has welcomed the thrust of the Australian Cyber Security Strategy, launched by the Prime Minister today.

Communications Alliance CEO John Stanton said the push for a better coordinated and resourced strategy, founded on the desire to create a national cyber partnership between industry and Government, was laudable and overdue.

“Execution will as always be the biggest challenge, but the strategy is responsive to industry’s call for better access, better coordination and less duplication of responsibility in the Australian cyber-sphere.

“The relocation of the Australian Cyber Security Centre to make it more accessible to industry and other stakeholders is a welcome sign.

“I congratulate Alastair MacGibbon on his appointment as the Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Cyber Security. We have worked closely with Alastair in his current role as the Children’s eSafety Commissioner and feel sure he will excel in the new role.”
