PIPE Networks was established in 2001 and owns and operates Australia’s third largest metropolitan fibre optic network. The network provides extensive coverage of the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne CBD's as well as a significant number of metropolitan exchanges and most of Australia’s major data centres.PIPE Networks operates carrier neutral data centres in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart. We also operate Australia’s largest internet peering exchange.
In 2008 the company announced the launch of PPC-1, a submarine cable from Sydney to Guam, with onward capacity to the US and Asia. The $200m project is expected to be completed in August 2009.
