ALLAN ASHER | Chief Executive Officer, Australian Communications Consumers Action Network
Allan Asher is Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Communications Consumers Action Network (ACCAN). He has been a strong advocate for consumer issues during his roles as Director of Corporate Affairs in the Overseas Telecommunications Company before it was absorbed into what is now the Telstra Corporation. Allan has held leadership positions including Deputy Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the Trade Practices Commission and CHOICE in Australia, WHICH? (The UK equivalent to CHOICE in Australia), Consumers International, and as director of Energywatch, the gas and electricity consumer council in the UK.
HUGH BALDWIN | Digital Media Director, Nickelodeon
  Hugh Baldwin is Digital Media Director for Nickelodeon and MTV Networks, Australia and New Zealand. He is responsible for the creative and strategic development of Nickelodeon and MTV's digital media activities including online, mobile and itv applications. He also currently sits on the board of Screen Tasmania and he is on the advisory committee for the Australian Council's Story of the Future project.

Hugh was previously at Murdoch University's Interactive Television Research Institute (ITRI) as a PhD candidate. Hugh designed and developed nine iTV prototypes as part of a three year study on how interactivity can enhance children's television. Hugh worked with the Seven Network on their enhanced digital channel coverage of the Athens Olympics, the 2005 Australian Tennis Open and the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Prior to that, Hugh spent three years working as an NRL, Super 12 and NSL accredited journalist. He travelled to Korea and Japan to cover the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Hugh was the editor and online producer for a Sydney-based sports-entertainment company, NextGenSports, overseeing the production and delivery of broadband and narrowband sports content.

During the last ten years, he has been working as a script-and-screenwriter with over ten professional credits. Hugh has also worked as a director and producer for children's theatre, animation, live action, radio, television, the internet and video.

Hugh is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
ANGELA CLARK | Managing Director, StreetCorner
Angela Clark is Managing Director of www.streetcorner.com.au, an on-line hyper-local and people power(ed) site. Streetcorner is a joint venture with Macquarie Radio Network. Angela was previously Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Radio Network for 5 ½ years from May 2004 until February last year. Prior to joining Macquarie Radio Network Limited, Angela was Managing Director of JCDecaux Australia Pty Limited for over six years. She is also a Director of the Bundanon Trust and Biennale of Sydney Limited. Angela holds a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
RIC CLARK | Chief Technology Officer, Alcatel-Lucent
Ric Clark is currently Chief Technology Officer of Alcatel-Lucent ANZ. Appointed in January 2006, Ric is responsible for technology solutions and strategic direction for Alcatel-Lucent’s products and services in the Australian, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Ric leads a team of 40 Senior Architects, Solutions Engineers and Analysts who work across Alcatel-Lucent’s product lines to create and propose integrated solutions.

Ric’s team also leads Alcatel-Lucent’s Public and Regulatory Affairs activities and has played a key role in the volatile regulatory debate on ‘fibre to the node’ and ‘operational separation’ in both Australia and New Zealand.

In 2003 Ric joined National ICT Australia Ltd where he was Chief Operating Officer. As the ‘inaugural’ COO, he was responsible for establishment of NICTA’s operations, commercialisation, intellectual property management and its industry development and outreach program. During his tenure NICTA was seen as Australia’s ICT centre of excellence.

Ric joined NICTA from Ericsson where he was Managing Director of its Research and Development Company, Ericsson Asia Pacific Lab Australia (EAA) and CTO of Ericsson Australia.

Prior to this appointment in early 1998, Clark was the New Business Operations and Executive Project Manager for the Ericsson Telstra Customer Business Unit.

Ric is an active contributor to university syllabus and industry development and has been involved in various advisory groups with State and Federal Government. Ric is also a Director of the Communications Alliance of Australia.

Ric holds a Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Swinburne Institute of Technology and is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Australian Institute Of Company Directors.
HUGH F. DURRANT-WHYTE | Research Director, Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems
The Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) is led by Professor Hugh Durrant-Whyte. The University of Sydney’s ACFR is the largest robotics and automation research group in Australia and is the main partner in the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems. The work of the Centre focuses on fundamental and applied research in the development of Autonomous Systems.

From 1986-1995 Hugh Durrant-Whyte held positions at Oxford University. In 1995 he accepted a professorship at the University of Sydney, where he was director of the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) from 1999 to 2002. He currently holds the position of Research Director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems (CAS), a joint venture between the ACFR and mechatronics groups at UTS and UNSW.

Professor Hugh F. Durrant-Whyte is known for his pioneering work on probabilistic methods for robotics. The algorithms developed in his group since the early 1990s permit autonomous vehicles to deal with uncertainty and to localize themselves despite noisy sensor readings (simultaneous localization and mapping SLAM). Professor Hugh F. Durrant-Whyte has published over 350 papers and has won numerous awards for his work, including the 2009 ATSE Clunes Ross Award, the 2007 IFR/IEEE Invention and Entrepreneurship Award, the 2004 New South Wales Pearcy Award. In 2008 he was awarded Professional Engineer of the Year by the Institute of Engineers Australia Sydney Division.
ANNE HURLEY | Chief Executive Officer, Communications Alliance
Since graduating from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Arts and acquiring a Master of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney, Anne has worked on communications issues both in Australia and overseas for many years. Her extensive experience includes working in the corporate, legal and academic sectors across communications, trade practices, telecommunications policy and regulation.
THOMAS JONES | Partner, Corrs Chambers Westgarth
Thomas Jones is a highly skilled telecommunications, regulatory and competition lawyer who specialises in access to regulated infrastructure. His particular expertise is in third party access issues and advising clients on competition and administrative law aspects of the operation of regulatory regimes. Thomas has extensive experience advising on telecommunications law and regulation through the Asia-Pacific region, and has acted for Telstra and Sydney Airport on various issues. Since joining Corrs, Thomas has advised NBN Co on various regulatory issues in relation to the roll-out of the National Broadband Network.
THE HONOURABLE MICHAEL LEE | Chairman, Communications Alliance
Michael Lee, a former communications minister under the Hawke-Keating Labor Government, is the Chair of Communications Alliance. Michael is currently chairman of the board of the NSW TAFE Commission Board and a director of Country Energy, MAp Airports, DUET (Diversified Utilities and Energy Trusts) and Superpartners Pty Limited.

From 1984-2001 he was the Federal Member for Dobell on the NSW Central Coast and held the position of minister for communications and the arts in the Labor Government of Paul Keating from 1994-1996. He was also chairman of the House of Representatives Industry, Science and Technology Committee from 1990-1993. He has also been minister for tourism and minister for resources and was responsible for the health and education portfolios as shadow minister. More recently, he was a City of Sydney councillor from 2004-2008.
ANDREW MESSENGER | Partner, Corrs Chambers Westgarth
Andrew Messenger heads the Corrs communications practice and is recognised as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in the area of communications and technology. In 2008 he was appointed specialist legal adviser to the Australian Government on its National Broadband Network Project and is now the legal advisor to NBN Co Limited, the Australian Government owned corporation responsible for building and operating the $43 billion National Broadband Network. Andrew has advised clients such as SBC Communications, Telstra and Vodafone in regard to communications projects in the UK, Asia and Australia, including advising Vodafone Group in relation to the joint venture between Vodafone Australia and Hutchison Australia.
NIGEL MILAN | Chief Executive Officer, Royal Flying Doctor Service
Nigel Milan had a distinguished career in broadcasting - in public and private on both sides of the Tasman. Nigel was Managing Director of the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) from 1998 to 2005 and under his tenure SBS television and radio audiences had grown significantly. Nigel was Chief Executive Officer of Radio New Zealand and played a significant role in securing parliamentary approval of a bill to uphold public broadcasting while at the same time privatising the commercial assets of the national broadcaster.

In 1996, he was named Radio Broadcaster of the Year for his service to New Zealand's broadcasting industry. An earlier award in Australia, named Nigel Media Executive of the Year. Nigel Milan is a past Chairman of the Fred Hollows Foundation, one of the most successful nongovernment organisations in Australia with operations in 46 countries. He has also served as a Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, a former member of the Advisory Board of the Australian Walkley Awards for Journalism, and a former Trustee of the Australian Museum; former President of Federation of Australian Radio Broadcasters (now CRA).

His current position is with the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) as National Chief Executive Officer. The RFDS is the largest and most comprehensive aero-medical organisation in the world.
ALAN NOBLE | Engineering Director, Google
Alan Noble is an IT entrepreneur and executive with 25 years of international technology leadership and management experience in Australia, the United States and Japan. Since February 2007 he has lead Google's research and development operations in Australia, one of Google's fastest growing engineering centres and the home of Google Maps and Google Wave. He joined Google from NetPriva, a networking software company he founded in 2005 which was acquired by Expand Networks. From 1986 until 2002 he lived in California, where he worked for Schlumberger, the world's largest oilfield services company, for 8 years. In 1996 he founded NetMind, which developed the Internet's first change detection service with over 6 million users. NetMind was acquired in 2000 by Intellisync (now part of Nokia) where he remained as VP of Engineering until returning to Australia in 2002.

Alan is a graduate of Adelaide University and Stanford University and an adjunct professor at Adelaide University. He has been granted seven US patents and has several others pending.

He is a director of the Australian Information Industry Association, a member of the Australian Government 2.0 Taskforce and serves on five Australian university advisory boards (NSW, Queensland, Adelaide, Carnegie Melon Heinz College and ANU).
MIKE QUIGLEY | Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, NBN Co
Mike Quigley was born in Kent, England in 1953. He is an Australian citizen, and is married with three daughters. Mr Quigley was educated at the University of NSW with a B.Sc in Mathematics and Physics, and a B.E (Hons 1) in Electrical Engineering. His early career with STC (before it was acquired by Alcatel) was in the area of R&D and technical management. He then took on progressively more senior general management roles in Australia before becoming responsible for Alcatel's business in Australia and New Zealand.

In 1999 Mike Quigley became Chief Operating Officer and then President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel USA. In 2003 Mike Quigley became President of Alcatel's Fixed Communications Group in Paris, responsible for infrastructure products including network switches and optical communications systems. He was then promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of Alcatel at a time when the business recorded revenue of Euro 13Bn and employed more than 55,000 people in 130 countries.

In November 2006 Alcatel merged with Lucent. After supporting the new CEO through the initial phases of the merger, Mike Quigley decided to return to Australia in September 2007. In addition to Mike's role with NBN Co, he is a Non Executive Director of the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute.
DAVID ROFFE | Chief Information Officer, St Vincent's Hospital
After completing his Electrical Engineering degree and subsequent Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering, David started his career as a research and development engineer specialising in Cardiology and Intensive Care. He was responsible for development of numerous electromedical devices to support clinical patient care and applied research. David completed in MBA in 1990 and moved into the management of high technology in medicine before he moved into an information technology management role for a large NSW public hospital area health service. In 1997 David joined the Sisters of Charity Health Service which own the St Vincent's Group of Public and Private hospitals. His role as Chief Information Officer was to integrate the three NSW based IT departments, manage a cultural change process and develop the organisation's new IC&T vision and strategy. David's passion is to support clinicians to provide better practice patient care by the pragmatic application of engineering and computer science. The St Vincent's Darlinghurst Campus has been using an electronic clinical information system for over 10 years and is now perusing several cutting edge technologies using RFID and voice recognition technologies to enhance clinical communication, efficiency, effectiveness and risk management processes.
DAVID SKELLERN | Chief Executive Officer, National ICT Australia
David Skellern is a successful ICT entrepreneur, with a background in scientific research, industrial R&D, and engineering education. He has been Chief Executive Officer of National ICT Australia (NICTA) since mid-2005.

David spent 10 years from 1974 designing, building and commissioning instrumentation and extensions for the Fleurs Synthesis Radiotelescope before joining the academic staff at Sydney University's Electrical Engineering Department. In 1989 he moved to Macquarie University as Professor and Head of Electronics. He has worked for several companies on sabbaticals, including over two years at HP Labs.

In 1997 he co-founded Radiata Inc to build wireless LAN chips based on research he led at Macquarie University, in collaboration with CSIRO. Radiata demonstrated the world's first IEEE 802.11a chip-set in September 2000 and was acquired by Cisco Systems. David subsequently moved to California as Technology Director of Cisco's Wireless Networking Business Unit.

David has BSc, BE and PhD degrees from Sydney University. He was awarded the 2007 CSIRO Tony Benson Award for Individual Achievement in ICT and is an IEEE Fellow, an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
GREG SNEDDON | Sales Director, Roadshow Television and Digital
Greg Sneddon leads the Television and Digital distribution divisions at Roadshow Entertainment. As Australia's leading home entertainment content distributor, Roadshow Entertainment distributes feature film, television, and direct to DVD content from studios including Village Roadshow Pictures, The Weinstein Company, New Line Cinema, Relativity Media and Hopscotch Films as well as television content partners ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company), BBC (British Broadcasting Company), Fremantle Enterprises, Nine Network and a multitude of independent production companies. Roadshow is also an equity partner in The Movie Network suite of premium movie channels carried on the Foxtel and Austar platforms to which Greg is a representative to the Board of Directors.

After starting his career working in new product development at AT&T in the United States, Greg went on to new business development roles at multiple internet software development and services companies working primarily in the area of Internet based content distribution and online advertising. Following that and just prior to joining Roadshow, Greg held a multi-faceted position in the International Television Distribution group at MGM Studios in Los Angeles where he led MGM's TV distribution efforts in Japan as well as oversaw MGM's equity interests in premium movie channels covering over 15 countries.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Certificate in Russian Studies from Colorado State University and an M.B.A. in International Business from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Business.
RYAN STOKES | Director, Seven Network
Ryan Stokes is an Executive Director of Australian Capital Equity Pty Ltd (ACE). ACE is a privately owned company, holding a significant interest in the Seven Network of which Ryan is a Director, and owns WesTrac Pty Ltd, the Caterpillar dealer for WA, NSW, and North East China.

Seven Network is one of Australia's largest diversified media companies and is listed on the ASX. Seven owns approx 50% of the Seven Media Group (SMG), Australia's largest commercial television broadcaster, one of Australia's leading magazine publishing companies through Pacific Magazines, and Yahoo!7 which is a joint venture with Yahoo Inc. In addition to SMG Seven Network also owns a 22% interest in the West Australian Newspaper Holdings Ltd (WAN), Unwired Limited, and through vividwireless is launching Australia's first 4G broadband service that's commencing in Perth.

Ryan is a Director of Seven Media Group, Yahoo!7 and an Alternate Director for West Australian Newspapers. He is also Chairman of Unwired and vividwireless. In October last year Ryan was appointed to the Board of Consolidated Media Holdings as a Director.

In addition to these entities Ryan is responsible for other ACE investments in media across Australia and China.
