Developed as a framework to guide interested parties considering interconnection in the Australian environment. It describes the interconnection arrangements in Australia for circuit switched networks that have been developed from the introduction of full network competition in July 1997.

The Interconnection Model was reconfirmed in 2004 and the next review is scheduled to occur in 2009.
